Fair Trade Certified Coffee
Fair Trade Certified coffee assures farmers a baseline price for their beans even in times of market bust. That can mean the difference between losing the farm or holding on until times get better. It also helps the farmers gain access to needed loans for working capital. This allows them the chance to expand and improve living situations.
Organically Grown Coffee
Organic agriculture stimulates the development of biological pest management and safe methods of disease control. Organic farming practices preserve and promote topsoil development, a key factor in the prevention of erosion and desertification. Toxic and persistent chemicals are not added to the environment and are kept out of the water supply and food chain. Ecosystem diversity is emphasized and farmers and workers are not exposed to dangerous chemicals.
